Books.EXE is a uncommon CAT card. If Books is not in your crew, this can be one of CAT's starting cards.

1. Gain 2 Shard.
2. Pick 1 of 3 random Books cards to put in your hand. It gains Temporary and Discounted.

Strategy

Books.EXE gives you Shard and a wide selection of Books' cards - which is good, since you'll generally need to find one that consumes Shard. Cards that give you Shard are usually useless from this card (assuming you don't have Books), as you'll have nothing to use it on. Zircon Zip and Glimmer Shot are good common-rarity hits that you'll see often - the latter is especially nice since it gets out of your way after using it. If you're particularly lucky, you might see a Perfect Specimen - if you get that and play it, the Crystal Shard you get is permanent and can help you make better use out of this card in the future (not to mention a free heal). If Books is actually on your crew, this card's Shard gain is actually quite a nice jumpstart to your Shard economy.

Its A upgrade discounts it to 0, which is solid, as it is on many CAT cards, though cards that don't Exhaust are preferable choices.

Its B upgrade gives you 5 options (and 1 more Shard). This can help ensure you'll see the best hits, improves Glimmer Shot (and Zircon Zip on second play) and also gives you a better shot at the elusive Perfect Specimen.
