Strategy

Basic Shots are your default attacks. Many decks are looking to stabilize defensively first, making these good remove targets. That being said, there are situations where you should consider upgrading them instead - its A upgrade in particular can be an above-average card at times. (Spoiler) There's a certain character who is very good at making the most of these cards.

Its A upgrade makes it cost 1 less, which on a non-Exhausting card is quite a strong upgrade. If you're able to make the most of this card, this commonly-available upgrade can go surprisingly far. Overdrive and Powerdrive particularly like this card. Note that Basic Shot A, thanks to costing 0, can be the attack you spam as part of several infinite combos to kill the enemy! See Guide to Infinite Loops for more.

Its B upgrade adds 1 damage, which is generally the worse upgrade most of the time. One more attack is usually better than 1 more damage, and the A upgrade usually lets you play this card when you otherwise wouldn't have. But if you're desperate for damage against say Crystalline Entity and are playing this anyway (say, in the Ares because of its reduced card draw), sometimes this upgrade is the best one you have.
