Isaac is the first unlockable character. Isaac's cards are green.

His cards focus on launching midrow objects and interacting with them.

"Your engineer. His cards create and manipulate midrow objects, like drones and missiles."

Strategy

Isaac's primary focus is launching objects towards the midrow, a space between the player and enemy ships. These midrow objects serve a variety of functions, like attacking or defending.

He also has a few utility functions to support his midrow-based play.

All midrow objects are destroyed in a single hit, even if the shot that hits it deals 0 damage.

Drones

Drones are midrow objects that can take a turn after the player ends their turn. These objects have a singular function and will perform it from left to right.

Attack drones will shoot towards the enemy ship, Shield and Energy Drones will shoot towards the player and grant Shields or Energy depending on which kind of drone successfully hit the player, Jupiter drones are special and they will only shoot when the player themselves shoot.

Asteroids and Mines

Asteroids and mines, unlike drones, don't have any action while they're placed in the midrow; they're merely blockers.

Mines will deal damage to whoever destroys them.

Enemy Movement

Isaac has a few instances of controlled enemy movement to supplement player movement and drone movement.

Unique Mechanics

Droneshift: A status almost unique to Isaac, it allows the player to shift the midrow one tile left or right per use.

Bay Overload: A self-inflicted negative status, it causes the player's drones and missiles to launch backwards. The card it's included in also grants the player a large amount of energy.

Rock Factory: Your missile bay will create a a new asteroid every turn. It's a pretty decent combo piece with Salvage Arm or Gravel Recycler, but it will make your regular drone play harder.

Bubble: A status given to midrow entities, they're protected from one attack regardless of damage.

Artifacts

Wave Control:

While not flashy, having extra droneshift is always welcome, and can be used to move enemy projectiles out of the way even if the player doesn't control any drones.

Bubbler:

Requires the player to invest in taking and playing more Isaac cards; however, protected drones are a big asset, as they block and deal damage or perform their utility actions without being destroyed.

Gravel Recycler:

A great combo with Rock Factory and Books, as geodes also count as asteroids for this effect. The player isn't required to destroy the asteroid themselves for the effect to take place, so a well-executed blocking plan could save a few points of hull.

Drone Piercer:

All drone shots become piercing and ignore shields and armor, making Isaac's arsenal way more deadly; this also applies to the Jupiter ship and the Jupiter Drones.

Salvage Arm:

A difficult energy artifact to use properly, the player has to be the one to actively destroy midrow objects to trigger it. Launching a midrow object into another one will result in two energy gain. It goes well with some asteroid spam and Rock Factory.
