Strategy

Overflowing Power envisions a slow, defensive struggle, where you use this card first to expand your Shard capacity and then to gain Powerdrive, all while upping your Max Shard to help you support a strong Shard economy. You should be aspiring to get the Powerdrive with this since 1 Shard (even with Max Shard) is usually a consoluation prize, even though on your first play you'll never get it since 4 Shard is more than you can carry. However, with Shard Collector, you may be able to get the Powerdrive on your first play, though you'd need to be able to get 4 Shard before this card. With both Shard Collector and Resonance Fork, you can feasibly get the Powerdrive on your first play, greatly speeding up this card. Absent this, you're gearing up for a long fight with this card, as it won't have a combat effect until your second time through your deck at the earliest, so the rest of your deck should be defense-oriented.

The Max Shard this gives can allow you to use heavy Shard-gaining cards more effectively, like Swizzle Shift and Quantum Quarry, though it doesn't make as much of a difference in a more modest Shard economy in most other contexts. It does increase Glimmer Shot's potential number of shots, which scales multiplicatively with the Powerdrive this provides. Upgrading that card to its B version allows it to wait for the right moment to finish off your opponent.

Its A upgrade means you get the Max Shard and Shard first. This means that if you have frontloaded Shard, such as Resonance Fork, you can get the Powerdrive on your first play of this card as long as you have 3 Shard when you play it, even without Shard Collector, making it much more practical for shorter fights and longer ones alike. (The user interface won't show this, as it doesn't factor in the Shard you gain from the first part of this card.)

Its B upgrade really envisions a very long fight, as unless you have Shard Collector, you'll need to play this at least a whopping 3 times before it gives you the Powerdrive (and even with Shard Collector, 2). While 2 Powerdrive is a lot, usually it's better to have that Powerdrive sooner, especially for fights like Buried(?) Relic. It's often feasible to have 2 Powerdrive by your 3rd play on the unupgraded version too. And while this upgrade means you'll often get to 4 Powerdrive and onward faster, your deck must really need help offensively to need that much Powerdrive to finish even the longest fights.
