Ion Converter is an artifact that gives you +1 Shield if you end a turn with 1 or more Energy left.

Strategy

You can think of this artifact as ensuring you have a Basic Block in every hand. It's easy to forget about this artifact, but it's worth your while not to! While 1 Energy for 1 Shield isn't the most efficient deal, sometimes it's the deal that best fits your current turn. (For example, if Seeker Missiles are headed your way.) Feel free to remove Basic Block if you have this.

Note that this artifact plays very well with other artifacts that reward you for saving Energy at end-of-turn, like Hunter Wings and Standby Mode, as you'll get all benefits for the same Energy (this doesn't "cost" the Energy in a strict sense).
