Repair Yard
Repair Yards are a type of Location you will see often on the map, denoted by their unique icon with a green wrench & screwdriver. Each zone has two Repair Yards scattered randomly throughout the middle and one just before the Boss which you are guaranteed to stop by. Because of the randomly diverging pathways, you will sometimes be unable to visit all 3 Repair Yards in a zone.
At each Repair Yard, you will find Cleo, a friendly cat who is happy to help you on your journey.
Options
At a Repair Yard, you can choose between one of the following options:
- Repair X hull (Always heals 50% of your maximum hull, rounded down.)
- Upgrade a card
- Remove a card
- [Requires the Jettison Hatch artifact] Remove two cards
- [Requires 2 or more wins] Fight me - Cleo warns you and gives you the opportunity to back out.
- Mmmmaybe not. - Back out and choose something else.
- Let's do this. - Enter combat against Cleo's ship. Good luck!
- No thanks. - Cleo asks if you're sure you want to leave.
- Yeah, see ya! - Leave with nothing!
- On second thought... - Back out and choose something else.
Strategy
Upgrades can often be very useful on many cards, and tend to be a little more useful than removals. Removing cards is great for thinning your deck though, especially if you get the Jettison Hatch artifact to be able to remove two at once.
Repair Yards are by far the most common and consistent source of card upgrades & removals. This means skipping out on an upgrade or removal for a hull repair can hurt your build a bit. If you're low on hull though, it may be worth considering a repair to help ensure your survival in upcoming fights. Keep in mind that a Boss victory will heal you a lot, so if you're confident you can survive it, it can be worth it to let that be your heal and take an upgrade or removal instead.
You could also choose to fight Cleo, but this is a very, very bad idea unless you have the right build for it. You will get a decent reward if you win, but all future Repair Yards will be empty and you won't be able to get anything out of them. If you plan to fight Cleo, it should ideally be saved until the very last Repair Yard.
Notes
- Repairing hull at the shop is affected by Heal Booster's +1 to all heals. This increase is visually shown.
- You can cancel upgrading or removing cards if you change your mind. However, if you choose to remove two cards, you will be unable to cancel it after removing one and must remove a second card as well.
- The choice to repair hull is unavailable if your ship is already at its maximum hull.
- The choice to upgrade a card is unavailable if all of your cards are already upgraded or have no possible upgrades.
- The choice to remove a card is unavailable if you somehow have no cards in your deck. Similarly, removing 2 cards also requires that you have at least 2 cards in your deck.
