Fake Distress Signal

Fake Distress Signal is an event during which you are accosted by Drake (or, if Drake is a part of the crew at the time, Drakebot 2) as she attempts to steal one of your artifacts.

This event can only appear in Zone 1.

Options

• Give her [random Artifact].
  • Lose the randomly chosen Artifact
• Uh, no??? (With Drake in your crew, this changes to: Over my dead body!!!)
  • Enter Combat with Fireball

If you have no artifacts, the following is your only option:

• We... don't have any?
  • Enter Combat with Fireball

Drakebot Variation

With Drake in your crew, Drakebot 2 will be in her ship instead, with unique dialogue.

Encounter (Drakebot)
//cat.exe I'm picking up a distress signal?
Drake Hah, I recognize that signal! That's my own ship running autopilot. Robbed idiots all the time, it always worked.
Drakebot 2 Hey. Give me that artifact or else.
Drake Oh, wait, what the hell? Am I getting robbed by myself???

Give her artifact (Drakebot)
Drakebot 2 Heh. That was easy.
Drake I cannot believe you let that happen.

Strategy

This encounter is the exact same as the Elite encounter with the Fireball. If you were intentionally avoiding elites, it may be wise to part with an artifact instead of entering this tough fight.

Notes

• Drake will never attempt to steal ship-specific artifacts (i.e. Cargo Hold).
• Oddly enough, encountering this event does not prevent you from encountering the Fireball again in an elite encounter later on, or vice versa.
