Upcycling Program

Upcycling Program is another event that takes place at the Sunshine Heavy Industries shipyard. This time, Wren offers the crew an opportunity to “upcycle” a card in the deck by replacing it with a random better card, or maybe to “sidecycle” a card to a different deck instead.

This event can appear in Zone 1 or Zone 2.

Options

  • Replace a card with a random rarer card
    • If the card belonged to one of your crewmembers, the new card will be from the same deck. Otherwise, it will be from a random crewmember on your ship.
    • Always goes up one step in rarity. (Common becomes Uncommon, Uncommon becomes Rare)
    • Rare cards cannot be chosen.
  • Replace a card with a same-rarity card from another deck
    • The new card will be from a different crewmember on your ship.
  • No thanks!

We're turning old unwanted junk into new wanted junk!

Understood! Honestly I think we're just throwing the old stuff in the incinerator anyways.

Shh! Don't tell them that!

Strategy

Upcycling can be a good choice for cards that you were considering removing at a later point anyways—at worst, you can still remove it; at best, it’ll be a card you want to keep! Upcycling one of your Basic Cards is also a solid choice, since it'll give you an Uncommon card for one of your crewmembers (unless you have CAT on your crew, in which case it'll always be for her).

Sidecycling is a good way to "reroll" your cards to another deck if you happen to get an unfavorable Uncommon/Rare that doesn't fit your current build. As mentioned, at-worst, you can still remove it!
