Strategy

Sidestep is a cheap, reusable way to get out of the way of enemy attacks that, like Evade, can be held until it's necessary and doesn't cost Energy. In contrast to Bolt, it's slightly less flexible but doesn't Exhaust. If you don't have Riggs as a co-pilot and Evade is hard to come by, this card can fill in reasonably well for those situations where you just need to move one space, and can often be played in lieu of using 1 Evade, functionally making its effect 1 Evade.

Note that this card is quite bad on the Tiderunner as its Retain will cause it to be in your left slot often, meaning the Tiderunner's drift will counteract this card. You'd be forced to play it the turn you draw it for it to have any meaningful effect, negating the main selling point of this card.

The A upgrade allows you to move one more square. There are better upgrades than this numerically, and you may even want to move 1 space rather than 2.

The B upgrade draws a card. Not the best upgrade, but at least it's on a 0 cost card so you're in decent position to use the card draw. In conjunction with the card's Retain, this card can also function like Max's Spacer. It can also go infinite by itself if you can draw your whole deck - there are several ways to translate this into a win, such as Corrosion.
